GANT RIBA Regent Street Window Displays by Sybarite Architects

Sybarite Architects were paired with retailer GANT. Drawing influence from GANT’s New Haven heritage Sybarite Architects sought to enthuse it with their luxurious philosophy. Initial inspiration was drawn from the hull of a boat which we have morphed into a sculptural form to showcase an emerging human figure. Sybarite Architects have strived to harness this unique marriage between an architecture practice and lifestyle brand by focusing on sculptural, architectural design far removed from the typical window display.

Gatorduct, who provided all the cardboard used in the window, have developed a flat pack, cardboard ductwork which is supposed to be the strongest heavy duty corrugated cardboard ever made and will last a lifetime. It is fire retardant, moisture resistance, vapour barrier and water repellent. It is also a 100% sustainable source, where each tree chopped down, two new trees are planted. Having got in touch out of curiosity Sybarite Architects and Gatorduct shortly began working together to harness their material and fabrication process, which has been developed for industry, in a new way. By applying it to the creation of this sculptural installation it is an interesting tale of materials being used in a new way.
